Heads up! February ends so soon! "How did that happen so fast?" you wonder. If you've ever wished you could slow down time, I recently discovered the secret. Want to hear it?
For as long as I can remember, my to-do list has felt endless. But around November, it got worse. I felt like time had doubled in speed, slipping through my fingers faster than ever. Overwhelm took over, and my body responded with debilitating back pain. Forced to rest for a week due to two herniated discs, I had no choice but to cancel clients and minimize work and home responsibilities.
Anyway, that was a few weeks ago now. Thankfully, I am recovering well. As they say, be careful what you wish for, you might just get it… Turns out I found a way to get breakfast in bed, Netfilx and reading for a week!
And the unexpected result? Time slowed down! Without the constant hustle, I found myself thinking things like: "Wow, it's only 10:00 a.m.!"
Prioritizing and Letting Go
Now, I’m figuring out how to keep that slower pace while still making progress. With the help of supportive family, friends, and my insightful business coach, I’ve realized it comes down to:
1. Prioritizing:
Identifying the actions that create the biggest impact.
2. Managing my Energy:
Scheduling high-effort, impactful tasks for when my energy is at its peak and balancing them with high-impact, easier tasks.
3. Deprioritizing:
Recognizing which high-effort tasks have low impact (and aren’t worth the strain).
4. Letting Go:
Giving myself permission to postpone or eliminate all the lower-impact tasks—like overextending myself with business-building activities that lead to 9-hour workdays when only 3-4 are client-facing.
It’s a work in progress, but I’m learning to listen to my body. Pain is its way of signaling imbalance. The trick is to slow down at the first sign rather than waiting until I can’t move.
If this resonates with you, I’ve created a Letting Go Guide to help identify the high-effort, low-impact tasks you can release—so you too can slow down time!
